![]() schnitzel were quite good but sausages were just average, spetzel and red cabbage were also quite tasty.skip the home fries unless you really love potatoes.the are not anything special. another disappointment for my hubby.lol Our platter also included 2 side salads with a refreshing dressing, the platter itself included 2 pork schnitzels, 1 knuckle wurst cut in half, 2 bratwusts, home fries, spetzel and red cabbage. we decided to share the platter for two that included bread(not rye which I had expected) but a nice fresh white and whole wheat bagel. ![]() I ordered the White House wine from Austria. she was prompt and curious even though my hubby was crabby about the lack of German beer selection. Our server was a very nice lady who I can only assume was the owners wife due to her accent. This place definately has the dated German decor happening and it is a very tight fit for seating all around. I come from a Swiss German background and know my European cuisine as I Have had the opportunity to sample excellent German cooking in both Germany and Switzerland. So this place definately caters to an older crowd. Unfortunately, due to "the boss'" lack of consideration for their customers who actually need that extra space to get into & out of their vehicles, as well as the disinterested attitude I got from the hostess in response to my complaint - I will most likely never return to Cafe Old Vienna, nor will I continue to suggest that anyone visit this restaurant again. We also had dinner here on Thursday evening and I first thing I notice was the age of the dinners eating there? We are both in our late 40's but ever one else appeared to be above the 65 yr old mark. After basically being brushed off by the hostess, I didn't figure I would get any further with "the boss." My family has not dined at Cafe Old Vienna often, but we have been dining with them since they were in their previous, smaller location and have always considered them a special place to visit for very special occasions. I did take the opportunity to speak with local traffic enforcement after leaving the restaurant to verify that "the boss" using that diagonally-lined zone in that manner was illegal. I went inside once more to tell the hostess this, at which time she told me, "Oh, I meant to tell you - that's the boss' car." I attempted to explain to her that, boss' car or not, it's not legal for them to be parked there (even with the "Authorized Parking Only" sign they had put up) - and she basically stared at me and walked away before I had a chance to finish my sentence. When I went back inside to tell the hostess that someone was parked in that "No Parking" zone, she initially told me, "Oh, well, we use that for extra handicapped parking if we get too busy." At first, I was willing to accept that explanation - until I went back outside and saw that the car in question did not have a handicapped placard, nor did it have a handicapped license plate. Because this person parked in this area, we were forced to remove our car from the handicapped spot and block traffic while helping my elderly family member get into the car. ![]() Having a family member who is over the age of 90 and must use a walker to get around, you can understand how annoying this was. On our way out of the restaurant, we noticed that someone was parked very close to our vehicle (which was in a handicapped parking spot) in a clearly marked "No Parking" zone. Unfortunately, I will most likely never dine here again due to an incident on my most recent visit. ![]() I've referred many friends, family members, and visitors here over the past several years, and I've been pleased to see the restaurant grow from its previous location to its new location. I would like to start my review by saying that, as far as food and service goes, Cafe Old Vienna has always been my favorite German restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area. ![]()
