Sun rays shine through the green leaves of a tree and a sprawling ocean rests in the bottom corner. The top left of the screen is filled with a bright blue sky with clouds scattered throughout while the slight illumination of the sun shines in from the right. Take the first shot of the Little Devil Inside trailer as an example. It’s like an old cartoon that fills the background with a gorgeous hand-made painting while the character in the foreground is animated. In terms of the visuals, these environments strike a strange tone between cartoony and hyperrealistic. Billy’s adventures will take him across the world, providing players with a steady supply of new environments to explore. We’ve seen desolate mansions, vast grasslands, scorching deserts, mountainous snow lands, and wide, empty oceans. Little Devil Inside takes place in a Victorian-era fantasy world that brings players to a wide range of environments. In many games, monster hunting is an enjoyable job that our protagonists bask in, but Little Devil Inside may take a different route, exploring the dangers and reasoning for taking on such a job. Even though the story is not as deep as we thought, it may comment on our desperation for prosperity, which led Billy down this dangerous career path. In reality, this old man is a professor who has hired an explorer, Billy, to hunt down and uncover supernatural beings. Perhaps the old man is remembering his adventures as a child…alas this is far from the true story. This led some to believe that Little Devil Inside would tackle some deep themes including the encroaching limitations of time. So we can likely assume that moving around the world and camping will play a sizeable part. When PlayStation first unveiled Neostream’s project after a substantial absence, the preceding trailer juxtaposed the mundane life of an old man with that of an adventurous boy, a boy named Billy. A support PlayStation Blog post also states that Little Devil Inside isn’t about levelling up quickly and speedrunning the content, with the pace will be a bit more relaxed. Having secured supplies, Billy can be seen setting up camp for the night and preparing a meal for himself and his travelling companions. We also catch a quick glimpse of the inventory and survival mechanics in motion during the trailer. Of course, job locations will throw you into action as you fight all kinds of fiendish monsters. Some, like a herd of sheep blocking the road, will only serve as a slight inconvenience, whereas others, like a friendly old merchant, will change your perspective into third-person and have you interact directly. While making your way across fields, deserts and frozen mountain peaks, you’ll be faced with a number of obstacles and opportunities. Players can travel on foot, by horse, in vehicles or by train, each with its own advantages. When moving between jobs, Billy will traverse an adorable miniature-like world map, filled with obstacles and points of interaction. This new trailer focuses on how Billy, the game’s protagonist, moves through and survives in the world of Little Devil Inside. A new gameplay trailer Little Devil Inside was revealed during this morning’s PlayStation State of Play.
